Psychedelic Preparation & Integration Therapy
Psychedelic preparation and integration therapy is a therapeutic approach that supports people before and after psychedelic experiences, whether those experiences happen in clinical settings, ceremonial spaces, or personal exploration. The goal isn’t to provide the psychedelic itself, but to create a safe and supportive container for medicine work
The preparation stage helps someone get ready for the experience:
Clarifying intentions – exploring why they want to use psychedelics and what they hope to gain.
Psychoeducation – learning what to expect, potential challenges, and how psychedelics can affect the mind and body.
Safety planning – identifying risks (medical, psychological, or environmental) and making sure the person has the right setting and support.
Tools and practices – teaching grounding, breathwork, or mindfulness skills that can help navigate difficult moments.
The integration phase happens after the psychedelic experience, when insights, emotions, or memories surface.
Integration therapy helps:
Processing the experience – making sense of visions, feelings, or realizations.
Anchoring insights – turning the lessons or breakthroughs into practical steps for life, relationships, or personal growth.
Emotional support – working through any difficult or unresolved material that came up.
Sustained change – weaving the experience into daily habits, healing, and ongoing therapy.
Often, other forms of therapy are integrated into treatment to support the work. Mindfulness, Attachment, Ego-State/Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and Somatic Focused therapies are offered as alleys.
Disclaimer: Please note that we do not act as a psychedelic guide or serve medicines in a clinical setting. Instead, we offer pre and post psychedelic experience support. From a harm reduction standpoint, we recognize people are seeking healing and using psychedelics within the medical/clinical community, ceremonial use, and/or recreational context. While psychedelics are powerful healers, it is not recommended to do this work alone. Moreover, not everyone is an appropriate candidate for psychedelic medicines and not all people who claim to be sacred ceremonial space holders are trauma informed.
Although, increasing clinical research and ancient Indigenous wisdom demonstrates significant results in the use of psychedelic substances for the treatment of PTSD, anxiety, addictions, expanded consciousness, and other mental health conditions, being prepared to navigate altered states of consciousness and greeting yourself there requires skill and grace.
Psychedelic Integration Therapy assumes a harm-reduction approach to psychedelics. We do not promote or condone their use and recognize the physiological and psychological risks in doing so. We not a medical doctors and do not run a medical clinic or clinical trials. We do not offer psychedelics or make referrals to places that do provide psychedelic treatment. Always talk to your medical provider and circle of care team.
