The Heart as a Living Teacher
Hello beautiful soul,
As we continue our journey into the wisdom of the heart, I invite you to soften your shoulders, unclench your jaw, and allow your breath to drop a little deeper. The heart speaks in quiet rhythms. It reveals itself when we stop bracing against life and let ourselves feel again.
The heart is not only a vessel of emotion, it is a teacher. A compass. A storyteller. It’s something we invite people to connect with in therapy. Each beat carries the memory of where we’ve been and the possibility of where we can go. And yet, so many of us walk around severed from this inner wisdom, trained to be strong, capable, composed, while our hearts whisper, “I’m still here. Will you turn toward me?”
The Heart as an Inner Compass
When you live from your heart, life doesn’t get easier, but it does becomes truer. The heart asks for alignment. It calls us back into integrity with what we feel, what we know, what we long for.
The mind calculates. The body endures. But the heart reveals.
It reveals what is no longer working. It reveals the people we outgrew long before we admitted it. It reveals what turns us on. It reveals the truth behind our “I’m fine.” It reveals our joy. What we love and adore. It reveals the ache of our unmet needs, the yearning for deeper connection, the desire to belong to ourselves again.
When we honour this inner compass, our lives begin to shift, subtly, then profoundly.
The Concept of Heart Fire
I can still remember the moment my heart fire began to return.
At first, I had no idea what I was feeling. It showed up during a healing session where I was deep within my body. It was one of those moments where something inside you shifts before the mind catches up. I saw an image of my heart with an eclipse moving across it… a bright, burning sphere with a dark circle covering the center. It was dramatic, symbolic, and yes, it gave Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” a whole new meaning.
Then the heat came. A slow, rising warmth in my chest, almost like heartburn, but sacred.
That was my heart fire reawakening. It’s still here today, but it’s a full blaze and no longer eclipsed.
Heart fire is the living flame at the center of your being.
It’s the part of you that can’t be taken, dimmed, or destroyed, no matter what you’ve survived. It’s the spark of devotion, clarity, courage, and love that remembers who you are beneath all the layers, the conditioning, the survival strategies, the trauma imprints, the fear, the stories you had to carry to get through life.
And here’s the hilariously human part: we spend so much time looking outside of ourselves for healing, answers, and direction. We consult everyone, therapists, mentors, tarot cards, Google... But eventually there comes a moment when the searching softens. When the noise quiets. When you realize that the real wisdom you’ve been chasing has been inside you the whole time.
Heart fire is what lights your way back to that inner place. It’s the heat that guides you inward, again and again, until looking within becomes not a last resort, but your home.
As humans, we have this hilarious little habit of trying to figure everything out. Our minds latch onto the question “how?” like it’s some kind of sacred key.
How do I get in touch with my heart, Rhea? Well, the longer I walk this path, the more I realize that letting go of the how is really a devotional practice of self-trust. A slow, steady unraveling. A surrender. An exhale into the knowing that the heart/inner compass has been speaking to me all along.
And let’s be honest… that’s not exactly easy in a world that’s been telling us who to be, how to behave, how to feel, and what the hell to do since we were barely tall enough to reach the light switch.
The truth? The “how” reveals itself when you soften, when you slow down enough to actually hear yourself. When you dare to ask the deeper questions and follow the thread inward. No one else carries the map for your becoming.
So honestly? Fuck the “how.” Fuck the perfect method, the right modality, the next shiny thing. And yes, sometimes we do need guidance (otherwise… my job wouldn’t exist). But I see my work as something different: I’m not here to save you, fix you, or become your lifeboat.
I’m here to hold the kind of space where your personal power gets remembered. I am here to teach and guide you “how” to go within yourself and listen. I know myself deeply, fiercely, and it’s that knowing that allows me to guide you into your own. Not from hierarchy, but from resonance… from the quiet confidence of someone who has walked through the fires and come out with a spine full of truth.
Belief is contagious. When someone holds a grounded, unwavering belief in who you are becoming, it awakens the places within you that have gone dormant. Like osmosis for the soul. Surround yourself with people who’ve traveled where you long to go… and watch how the mirrors of your own remembering and magic begin to shimmer.
So I’ll leave you with a few questions. Listening to your heart starts with a pause. Set some time aside, make a cup of tea….Let the questions land, let them guide you into your heart knowing. Notice what stirs. And trust the wisdom that rises from within.
What is my heart asking for in this season of my life?
When I slow down and listen to my heart, what truth rises first?
What keeps trying to be born through me?
Am I resisting speaking, sharing, creating or seeing any parts of myself?
Where might I soften?
What might my heart fire need in order to keep burning?
A Blessing for Your Heart
If your heart is tired, may it rest.
If it is aching, may it be held.
If it is opening, may it be supported.
If it is transforming, may it be trusted.
If it is calling you forward, may you listen.
Your heart is not fragile. It is fierce. It is ancient. It is wise.
It knows the way home.
Love you, mean it, you beautiful being!
Rhea, Andrea and Tia xo
