What the heck is Integrative Music Therapy?
Big news, we are growing again; this time with an additional healing offerings. Give a big welcome to Exploring Integrated Music Therapy Through Listening, Movement, and Emotional Connection
Integrated Music Therapy is a deeply expressive therapeutic practice that invites you to connect with your emotions through music and movement (no musical or dance background required.) Whether you're drawn to lyrics that speak your truth, melodies that soothe, or rhythms that move your body, this approach helps you access healing through creative expression.
This therapy blends music-centered techniques with somatic (body-based) awareness, allowing you to explore your inner world in safe and embodied ways. It’s not about performance; it’s about feeling, noticing, and expressing.
Together, you may explore:
Lyric Exploration & Song Reflection
Unpacking the meaning behind lyrics that resonate with your lived experience can help you give voice to emotions that are hard to express. Music becomes a mirror, allowing for deeper self-understanding.
Emotion-Based Playlist Creation
We’ll collaborate on creating playlists that support emotional awareness, regulation, or release. These may become tools to support you outside of sessions—bridging emotional experiences with music that grounds or uplifts you.
Guided Imagery with Music (GIM-Inspired Listening)
Through carefully selected music and guided prompts, you’ll be invited to journey inward, exploring memories, sensations, or images that arise. This gentle practice can uncover insights held within the subconscious and body.
Somatic Listening and Movement
You’ll learn to attune to how music resonates in your body, where it softens tension, evokes sensation, or invites release. This may include gentle movement, breath awareness, or even free-form dance. Dance is approached here as a form of emotional and physical expression, no choreography, just honest movement that emerges naturally from your emotional state.
Music-Making and Vocal Expression
For those who wish to explore further, we may use rhythm instruments, vocal toning, or sound exploration to externalize emotions and access creative release, always at your own pace and comfort level. Music and movement are universal languages, deeply connected to our nervous systems and emotions. In this therapeutic space, they become trusted companions in your healing process.
If you feel drawn to working with music and dance to better understand your emotions, navigate life transitions, or simply reconnect with your body’s wisdom, this approach offers a supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore, feel, and heal. Connect with Andrea.
Spaces open late Aug/Early Sept.
